WHY WE FAST & DAILY CONSECRATION HABITS
INTRODUCTION
At the start of the year, we dedicate ourselves to fasting and prayer through the Principle of First Fruits.

By giving God, the first part of our year, we invite His presence into our lives to guide, restore, and equip us.

This is an opportunity to RESET, REFOCUS, and REALIGN with God’s will and purpose for our lives.

Three Reasons We Fast at the Beginning of the Year
1. To Seek God’s Direction – We fast to hear His voice clearly and align our plans with His will.
2. To Break Strongholds – Fasting allows God to uproot anything hindering our growth and spiritual freedom.
3. To Draw Closer to God – Through fasting, we grow in intimacy with God,
surrendering distractions and prioritizing Him.

DAILY CONSECRATION HABITS
During this week of consecration, cultivate habits that promote discipline, obedience, and consistency in seeking God:

1. Start each morning with prayer and scripture meditation.
2. Set a time to close out each day with worship and prayer.
3. Make room for stillness to hear the Holy Spirit speak.
4. Journal your thoughts, revelations, prayers, and answers as God communicates
with you.
5. Limit distractions; social media, entertainment (TV, News, Netflix, Secular Music-
if it does not edify your spirit man eliminate)
6. Follow the fast you have committed to and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you in
overcoming challenges.

FASTING DEVOTIONAL | LOOSE THE BANDS
“THE FAST THAT BREAK CHAINS”

SCRIPTURES:
Isaiah 58:6 KJV
Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

John 8:36 KJV
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

DEVOTIONAL
Chains don’t always look like chains. Sometimes they look like habits, memories, toxic relationships, or negative thinking. God says this fast is designed to snap spiritual cords — not weaken them, not stretch them — but break them. You are not crazy for feeling stuck. You were bound. Now you are being loosed.

PRAYER
Father, reveal every hidden chain in my life. Show me where I have been tied to what You already delivered me from. Today I agree with freedom.

REFLECTION
What do I keep going back to that God already told me to leave?

FASTING DEVOTIONAL | UNDO HEAVY BURDENS
SCRIPTURES:
Matthew 11:28-30 AMP
[28] Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation].
[29] Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST (renewal, blessed quiet) FOR YOUR SOULS.
[30] For My yoke is easy [to bear] and My burden is light.

1 Peter 5:7 AMP

casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].

DEVOTIONAL
Heavy people are not weak people — they are people who have been carrying too much for too long. This fast is not just creating hunger for God, it is creating room for relief. God is unhooking what has been crushing you so you can breathe again.

PRAYER
Lord, I release what I was never meant to carry. I trade stress for rest and pressure for peace.

REFLECTION
What feels heavy in my life right now?

FASTING DEVOTIONAL | LET THE OPPRESSED GO FREE
SCRIPTURES:
Luke 4:18 KJV
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Psalm 34:19 NLT
The righteous person faces many troubles, but the LORD comes to the rescue each time.

DEVOTIONAL
Oppression is not always dramatic. Sometimes it looks like discouragement, fear, fatigue, or hopelessness. God is restoring your voice, your courage, and your authority. You are not meant to live crushed.

PRAYER
Holy Spirit, breathe on every oppressed place in my soul. Restore what pressure has tried to steal.

REFLECTION
Where do I feel powerless or stuck?
FASTING DEVOTIONAL | BREAK EVERY YOKE
SCRIPTURES:
Isaiah 10:27 TPT
In that day the Lord will remove the heavy burden from your shoulders and break off the yoke of bondage from your necks because of the heavy anointing upon you!

Galatians 5:1 TPT
At last we have freedom, for Christ has set us free! We must always cherish this truth and firmly refuse to go back into the bondage of our past.

DEVOTIONAL
A yoke is anything that controls your pace and limits your progress. Fear, generational patterns, poverty thinking, and old wounds are all yokes. This fast is removing what has been slowing you down.

PRAYER
In Jesus’ name, every yoke of limitation is broken off my life. I step into freedom.

REFLECTION
What do I believe I “can’t” do?
FASTING DEVOTIONAL| MOVEMENT
SCRIPTURES
James 2:17 AMP
So too, faith, if it does not have works [to back it up], is by itself dead [inoperative and ineffective].

Exodus 14:15 ESV
The LORD said to Moses, "Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward.

DEVOTIONAL
Freedom requires action. God doesn’t break chains so we can stay in the same place — He breaks them so we can move forward. This fast is pushing you into obedience.

PRAYER
Lord, I will move when You speak. I will not stay stuck.

REFLECTION
What is God asking me to do next?
FASTING DEVOTIONAL | MOMENTUM
SCRIPTURES
Galatians 6:9 NLT
So let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up.

Hebrews 12:1 ERV
We have all these great people around us as examples. Their lives tell us what faith means. So we, too, should run the race that is before us and never quit. We should remove from our lives anything that would slow us down and the sin that so often makes us fall.

DEVOTIONAL
Momentum is built when you keep showing up even when it’s hard. What you start in faith, you must finish in faith.

PRAYER
God, strengthen me to stay faithful. I will not quit.

REFLECTION
Where do I need consistency right now?
FASTING DEVOTIONAL | MANIFESTATION
SCRIPTURES
Habakkuk 2:2-3 ERV
[2] The LORD answered me, "Write down what I show you. Write it clearly on a sign so that the message will be easy to read.
[3] This message is about a special time in the future. This message is about the end, and it will come true. Just be patient and wait for it. That time will come; it will not be late.

Mark 11:24 AMP
For this reason I am telling you, whatever things you ask for in prayer [in accordance with God’s will], believe [with confident trust] that you have received them, and they will be given to you.

DEVOTIONAL
What you fasted for, you are about to see. God uses hunger to prepare you for harvest. Your reset is producing results.

PRAYER
Lord, I receive what You have promised. My faith is becoming my future.

REFLECTION
What promise am I standing on?
